Project Discovery

Organised since 1998, Project Discovery is a structured adventure learning exercise for people with diabetes. Every 2 years, TDS will pose an extreme challenge to people living with diabetes in the form of PD. The objectives are to motivate the participants to cultivate good diabetes management as they prepare for the physically demanding trip and helped to facilitate a process of self-discovery and growth with support from the diabetes community.

Previous projects included two Mt Kinabalu expeditions in 2001 and 2002, a 500-km cycling expedition to Kuantan in 2004, the Mini Triathlon – a first for the diabetes community in Singapore in 2005, a 500-km cycling expedition to Cherating, Malaysia in 2006 and a 100km journey on foot from one coast of Singapore to the other in 2008. In recognition of its role in promoting sports, TDS was awarded the Sporting Singapore Inspiration Award, Non-profit Organisation Category, organised by the Singapore Sports Council in 2004.

In 2011, we brought our Project Discovery 7 offshore to Shanghai for an amazing adventure! Click on Project Discovery 7 for more information.
